Another season has come and gone. The grande finale so to speak, was our November 1st match, fondly dubbed “The Shoot for Valour Place 2014”. This year we were graced with mild temperatures, sunshine, and no snow! As a result, 33 competitors registered and made the trek to the range, to come out and support a great and noble cause, Valour Place. Valour Place is a temporary home away from home for all Canadian Forces members, Families of the Fallen, Veterans and RCMP along with their families who require medical treatment in Edmonton, and live outside the city/area.

In a short three weeks, we were able to partner with numerous industry leading vendors, who graciously donated their time, gear, parts, and services to our match. Through their sponsorship, our competitors’ donations, and some club participation, WRAS was able to raise $4000, and present a cheque to Martin St-Onge who accepted our cheque on behalf of Valour Place.

The match’s success was a testament to our club’s solid membership and friendships made in other locals. We had folks make the trek from as far away as Calgary, Peace RIver, and Wainright. We had a large military presence as well, with most of the best prizes going to active duty military members. Without the efforts of all who showed up to help build, shoot, tear down, and donate, this could not have happened with such success. Thanks to all who came out, and we hope that this has set the tone for next year, where we will aim for even more success!

We look forward to an action packed 2015, so stay warm, and keep practicing. See you at the range!
