Despite all common sense and reason, the Liberal government has decided that law abiding Canadian citizens are to blame for gang related violence.
They have officially announced their intentions of stripping us of all our firearm rights, starting with a gun ban. As the previously passed C-71 demonstrated, the endgame includes a complete rewrite to the firearms act. This includes sweeping re-classifications, changes to storage and transport laws, and re-introducing gun registries. None of which requires ‘fixing’ in the name of ‘public safety’. Our government shows little understanding of existing laws and resources.
This is an emotionally charged campaign against gun owners. As abhorrent as any crimes related from firearms are, they are statistically insignificant when compared to real public safety issues such as our opioid epidemic, drug addictions, mental health challenges, homelessness, poverty, and disease.
We can do so much better as a society. The cost of stripping us of our rights has been projected to be north of a billion dollars and will not positively impact real societal issues. I would enthusiastically support any government which puts equivalent tax dollars toward correcting these very real issues. This, by all metrics, is a superior path to shaping Canada into a country we can all be proud of.
There are existing laws in place to help combat both criminals and violence. Maybe it’s time to start actually enforcing and empowering law enforcement, our court system, and actual public health related programs. We must NOT take away precious funding from agencies that can enact real positive change.
Our government have threatened the use of an Order in Council to grandstand on the fears of the ignorant to push through a misguided agenda of the few. This type of executive order is a prevision of democracy. We are not a police state.
Please take a few minutes to help fight for our rights, traditions, and freedoms.
1. Sign the Petition
A petition to stop the Liberals from confiscating firearms has been posted. Initiated by Bradley Manysiak (Medicine Hat, Alberta), it’s received support and is sponsored by Glen Motz M.P. (Medicine Hat—Cardston—Warner).

The petition currently sits at just over 78000. With approximately 2 million firearms owners, this number is distressingly low. Help change this.
Petitions are a good start and are a useful tool. The more names, the bigger point it can help make. That said, from experience, a personal letter to any government official carries so much more weight.
2. Letter Writing Campaign
The good people at the CCFR have launched a letter writing campaign. They’ve put together the resources required to quickly and easily contact the appropriate government parties.
Please participate by visiting their site here:

As always, be respectful and stay on point. This is not about concealed carry or magazine capacities.
It’s a surprisingly small amount of people that can influence law. Together we can voice a louder majority the is hard to ignore.
3. Support our Firearm Organizations
And finally, if you haven’t already, please consider joining one or all of our leading firearms rights organizations. For the cost of a box of ammunition, you can help give our rights advocates precious resources needed:
