We’d like to extend a sincere thank-you to everyone who submitted some feedback concerning the recent Proposed Wildlife Regulation Amendment. We really appreciated the well-thought-out feedback submitted in a very short period of time. It became quite apparent that hunters want to see healthy Wildlife populations.

The rationale for this proposed change was an enforcement driven recommendation without much information on the rationale. We had some feedback both for and against the proposed changes. We also received recommendations that the rifle seasons should be aligned with the seasons in 338 due to perception that the population cannot withstand the current level of hunting pressure in WMUS 340, 342,346, and 344.

Ultimately, the Senior Wildlife Biologist agrees with our feedback and is open to more consultation with our membership. We will propose to him that we have a working group consisting of a cross section of our membership: a Trapper, an Enforcement officer, a Biologist, and any others who our members deems appropriate to provide consultation with current and proposed regulation changes.

I remain very optimistic about what can be accomplished if we work together with healthy balanced Wildlife populations as our primary objective.

Once again, thanks to everyone who provided feedback and please put your name forward at a meeting if you are willing to be a part of the proposed working group. See You at the next meeting.

Regards,
Jim Toner
